I especially liked the list of questions you ask after the writing - I'm going to try these with my group, too!

Kendra @ Kool KindersMrs. Krouskop-Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02093308990094419335noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7234024955852186014.post-11422760708264178882011-11-11T14:30:00.695-06:002011-11-11T14:30:00.695-06:00Wow! A great lesson. Accessing reading through writing is so practical for many students.Learning with Mrs. Parkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17531829108247730123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7234024955852186014.post-28292332150000240392011-11-09T22:32:56.963-06:002011-11-09T22:32:56.963-06:00This is such a Reading Recovery lesson and I LOVE ...This is such a Reading Recovery lesson and I LOVE it!! Another thing I did with my Kinders last year that you may be able to use - we would use different color counters, normally 4. I would have the students place them in the same order as mine - maybe blue, white, red, yellow. We would then practice "reading" the colors from left to right. This worked WONDERS with my lowest readers last year. We would work on this for just a few minutes and then break into some of the things you have listed above, among others... Keep up the wonderful teaching!HoJohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17185490202086864410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7234024955852186014.post-52171851762169981022011-11-09T21:12:13.809-06:002011-11-09T21:12:13.809-06:00Love this idea and being able to guide the differe...Love this idea and being able to guide the different levels. They will be able to "take-ff" in a more creative way once they gain some needed skills. You are doing a "Reading Recovery" lesson with a small group. Thanks for sharing and reminding me how powerful Guided Writing can be.Freckleteacherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12996028337741424793noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7234024955852186014.post-75811933800220629232011-11-07T19:10:27.981-06:002011-11-07T19:10:27.981-06:00Thanks Deedee! If you do this activity with a more advanced group you can just make the sentences you write together harder-it very easy to differentiate using the same book but working on different writing skills with each group and giving more/less support where needed.Meredithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16494849868073451460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7234024955852186014.post-45585567624751013142011-11-07T18:51:40.916-06:002011-11-07T18:51:40.916-06:00Meredith!!!
